There are things that you can do at home to help in a dental emergency, before you come in to see our team.
These include taking over-the counter pain relief such as anti-inflammatory medications to help alleviate pain and swelling, using warm or cold compresses against the side of your face and trying to rest as much as possible. Don’t take aspirin as it contains blood-thinning ingredients that could make your condition worse.
Teeth may be strong, but they aren’t totally infallible. Luckily, a broken tooth can nearly always be repaired.
If your tooth has chipped, cracked or broken, pick up any pieces that have broken off and wrap them in a clean, damp cloth so that you can take them to your emergency dental appointment. If you’ve lost a permanent tooth but it is healthy and in good condition, there is a chance that it could be re-implanted if you handle the situation correctly.
